Ms H lost Kawekakea for an hour. He decided to go explore the parque.
Lots of familia come out to the squares in Paraná with their deck chairs and some comida at about 6.30 – 7pm.Argentinean people don’t eat their main meal at noche like we do. The main meal is at lunchtime. After lunch it is so hot that everyone has a siesta. All the shops shut at 12pm or 1pm and do not reopen until about 5pm. They close about 9 – 9.30pm. Supper is then eaten about 10-10.30pm.
There are two challenges for you today.
Challenge No:1
List the Spanish words I have used and what you think they mean.
Challenge No:2 Work out where Kawekakea is.
(Clue: It might help if you take a look at my travel blog) There will be a special gift from
Argentina for the student that answers both questions correctly!
I hope you are enjoying being with Mr E! I am missing you all! I thought I would share some photos of Buenos Aires and Paraná (that´s where I am staying in Argentina).
Buenos Aires is the capital city of Argentina.
Paraná is the capital of the Province Entre Ríos so it is quite a big city. It is 470km from Buenos Aires and it took 8 hours in a bus to get here. This is the Paraná River.
Tomorrow my host mother – Carmen, is taking me on a sightseeing trip around Paraná. I will share those photos with you later.

On Saturday last week 2008 room 18 did a car wash(to raise money for diabetes)at Harcourts in Taradale, it was a fun time. We cleaned more cars then we thought we would. We thought someone had stolen the money but someone had put it in a car that was being moved and then forgot about it.We ended up having a water fight some people got drenched others hardly got touched.
We raised over $100.00 We are very proud of our selfs.
Gosh! Hasn’t it been a full-on first 7 weeks of Term 1. You ought to be very proud of yourselves (because I am very proud of you all) of what you have accomplished already in such a short time. We still have a few things left to finish off so I thought it would be a great idea to list them here so that you could all see what’s left and so could Mr E. Show off your work so far to Mr E, won’t you? He’s very interested to know what you have all been doing and he’s really keen to help you get things finished off. So here goes …….. our list of things to do!
1. Blog Posts
There are several events that we haven’t had anyone blog about yet. There’s a list on the whiteboard of topics – Mr E will help you to embed the photos required. You might need to tell him the username and password for our flickr account. And don’t forget to take Carter on your adventures if you’re going anywhere – remember you need to book his itinerary on our class wiki first. (I think he’s booked to go to Australia for the school holidays – but check!) Don’t forget that you can blog from home – you just need to remember the url for our blog (with the wp-admin bit) and your username/password. I would love to hear about what you’re up to in the End of Term 1 holidays!
I made this VoiceThread with the photos taken when a couple of you went to see what happens before lunch when you have insulin dependent diabetes.
You two will need to add your voice recordings to each slide to explain what was happening and anything else that you learned about diabetes in the process. Everyone who wants to, can contribute to the last slide with something they learned when Dr Janet came to talk to us on Wednesday morning. I would love to see a comment from everyone on this last slide. (Remember the username for our VoiceThread account is a little different from our usual username). It’s already embedded on our ProjectLemonade wiki page and will update automatically as you add your voices! Just remember to always be respectful to our classmate with diabetes.
Three of you were working on our contribution to this VoiceThread from Lincoln Elementary’s Mathlincs Project. You will need to get Mr E to upload those photos you organised – the fruit, the vegetables, the map of Hawkes Bay, to this voicethread and add your voices to those photos.
Now Mr E, this is one for your maths class that might be a bit of fun. Take a look and see if we can add some interesting New Zealand landmark problems for people around the world to solve – and/or add our voices to solving some of the landmark problems that are already there.
5. Project Lemonade
Over the next 6 weeks we will be working with our buddy class, Briscoe Junior High School, on a global project together. Mr E should have joined the project lemonade wiki and Mr E will get 6 people to request permission to join the ProjectLemonade wikispace – Mr McGee is waiting for those permission requests. That will mean that you can edit our wiki page on the ProjectLemonade wiki .
And last of all, don’t forget to check Ms H’s Travel Blog – hopefully there will be some posts to read and Kawekakea will have a thing or two to share about his travels!

Today is the 13 of March. We had to get up early to be at school in time to have a video conference with some schools in America and Qatar.
It was 6:45 and we were ready to talk to Lower Merion District School in Ardmore, PA,USA. We waited very patiently for our turn to speak. It was hard not being able to see what was going on with all the other schools – so we are really looking forward to seeing the Video a bit later when Mr McGee posts it on the Project Lemonade Wiki. When it was finally our turn we experienced some technical difficulties with our sound. Ms H had to change the microphone and suddenly everyone could hear us again.
We told everyone about how much we had learned about diabetes, and how we were working towards raising money to buy testing equipment. After that we went to the staff room and had milo and toast for breakfast!

This is a true story about Mrs DW, Miss T and Kawekakea. It was a great opportunity for Kawekakea as he went to the Kaweka Ranges. They saw many great sites and so we interviewed them about their amazing trip. Here are some of the answers…
What did you enjoy the most about your trip?
Mrs DW: Miss T’s cream egg.
Miss T: The second day because it was down hill.
Did you camp out in the Kawekas or stay anywere?
Miss T: We camped in the forest.
MrsDW: Camped in macintosh huts {tents}
What was the funniest photo of Kawekakea?
Miss T: In Mrs DW’s backpack with his head poking out.
What was the best site you saw?
MrsDW: Miss T falling into the stream.
Miss T: No civilization – just pure nature
Did you feel lost at any time?
Mrs DW: No.
MissT: Sometimes
Did you get any souviners?
Miss T: yes, bruises.
Mrs DW: scratches, bruises and sore legs.

On the 8th of March on Saturday me, my Mum and Kawekakea went to the Kelt Capital Horse of the Year Show. When we got there Kawekakea was so excited because he could see LOTS of horses and ponies by the time we got around the corner. When were looking for a car park we got a bonus because the park was just outside the gate. As we walked in the gate Kawekakea could see most of the miniture ponies. As soon as we got to the tents we looked in them Kawekakea was only interested in the model horses so we HAD to take a picture.
Next we looked in the tack shops and looked at the saddles and Kawekakea pretended he was riding a horse and then we came across the jumps in the shop we looked around in the rest of the shops and after a while we watched the dressage it was so awsome.
It was lunch time by now so we went under the grandstand and had some hot chips and a drink and the even better thing was that there was a TV of the jumping so we were watching tv and eating at the same time. When we were finished we looked at the other half of the tents we didn’t look at.
After 1 hour we went and had lunch and after awhile we went home. The next day we went back to the Horse of the year and watched more of the jumping and dressage we watched that for about half an hour until we went to watch the pony games and they were galloping up and down the track getting flags and playing pass the baten then we went to the grandstand to watch the jumping to see who was going to be the HORSE OF THE YEAR. When it was over, Kawekakea , Mum and I went to see the clydesdales and there was a foal as well and it was so cute.
After hours of horses and ponies Kawekakea REALLY enjoyed it.
In the weekend my family went to Tauranga to see my grandparents in a retirement villiage called Greenwood place. It was a long drive to Taranga at least a three hour drive to Taranga. We reached Tauranga about six o’clock.
We played croquet which is like is a game that you play on the green you have a bat and you hit the ball through lots of hoops. We had teranchal rain the days after.
Jordans(brother) friend Glen came over and brought eletric monoply, instead of using money you use credit cards Jordan was the winner.
Then my family left to see my other Grandparents in Rotorua when we got there we found out that my 93 year old great granddad had pasted away and lots of people are going to the furnreal from the R.S.A to the bowling club. It was my brothers and mine first furnreal and it is one we’ll never forget.
