My Rabbit

My rabbit

becomes a mutant rabbit

his ears are

flapping like a windmill

he glows a fluorescent green

then vanishes

into his cage

My Dad

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

My Dad

Leaning back into his leather chair

Blue eyes twinkling

As he reads out the latest jokes

Resting now, closing his eyes

His favourite red shirt crumpled

Creased and dirty

Freckles mottle his hands like

Army camouflage

The black hairs on his hands

Stand stiff like radar arials

He strolls to the car with even steps

Journeying to the mountain

One place to be truly free

Soaring gracefully

Then embracing joyfully

When my dad is home

Personification

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

The china bounces around through the kitchen

The cupboard slams and bashes against the walls

The bench wonders through the house dripping slowly

The stove struts out the door with a burning red face

The jug strolls helplessly without a care.

Winter

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

This morning winter came along, gave everything a bright new coat

A dog stopped by a lampost, and left a bright orange pool

The postmen came whistleing up the road, spoiling the snow with his big black boots

The neighbours started off to work, and everything turned a dirty black

I wanted to go out and put it all right, begin again with everything right

And I thought of how our world was new beautiful and bright, before we spoiled it

Waipatiki Beach

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

The sand shivers as it dissolves away into the icy water

Rocks somersault down crumbling mountains

Sun block squeals as its sloped onto sunburnt skin

Sand castles lick their lips when saltwater comes near

Surfboards glide under waves

On The 15th Of May…

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

On the 15th of May I was lying in some hay

Wondering what I would do without my shoe

When suddenly what a pain

It started to rain

And everything around me got damp

Just like when I was at camp

The sky was grey

So I decided not to stay

With no shoes on my feet

I wondered off to meet

My silly Little brother

Who’s in trouble with my mother

For eating all the chocolate cake

That had just been baked

By old Mrs what’s her face

Who lives by Lowther Place

So we slowly walked home

And found our father talking on the phone

The Fairy Palace

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

Magical winds sweep

Through the palace

Where the pixie child plays.

In the top tower

Fairies send miracles and spirits

To the human world.

The unicorns gallop

Through enchanted meadows.

While mermaids teach

Schools of fish and

Glide through shimmering waters.

The fairy palace is alive!

Lonely Is The Tree

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

Lonely is the tree

Nowhere to go

Has to be alone

Frightened is the tree

In the darkness of the night

Hooting sounds give a big fright

Sad is the tree

Wanting to be free nowhere to go

Has to be alone

Winter comes once more

Lonely is the tree

Fairies

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

Upon the ancient trees are

Seven dancing fairies

With pink glittery gowns and golden shoes

When you truly believe you will see them.

My Baby Sister

Posted on December 10th, 2007 in Student Writing, poetry by mshrm18

My baby sister

You could never miss her yelling and screaming until the night is through

My baby sister

You could never miss her demanding and spoilt but oh well

My baby sister

You could never miss her cute and innocent as can be

Thats Bre!
