Doing IT Differently

Hi everyone,

I am having heaps of fun as it is the holidays but boy have they gone fast. Almost too fast, because can you believe it, it is already the middle of the holidays. The first week has been great for me as I have been up to many exciting things that I couldn’t do if we didn’t have holidays. One of the things that I have been doing all week is tennis. I loved all of the tennis that I did and yes I did play quite a lot.  It was just about tennis 24/7. One thing that I am surprised about is that my arm isn’t sore because of all of the balls that I was hitting. We only have one more week to go and I’m going to take it a little easier for the next week but I’m sure that I will still have heaps of fun.

Bam boom bang the crowd goes wild on the 19th of September 2007. 17 year old Dylan Elise has talent  there’s no doubt about that. Starting drums at the age of 6! No wonder he has skills. Kids his age are no match. He plays all different types of music like jazz and rock. The drum kit he plays with is worth over 30 thousand dollars and he has a huge drum stick bigger than cricket wickets but he can’t play with it. The performance had a big screen and a video camera so we could see him drumming at different angles. He could make his drum sticks flip through the air and catch them while he was playing the drums. Dylan has a big plastic screen so we couldn’t hear the raw sound of the drums and he was wearing headphones which were cool. Dylan was very friendly person and he had lots of amps to amp his music. I really enjoyed listening to his music. It was one of the best concerts that I have been to. Kawekakea got a photo with Dylan Elise and got to sit on his drum set.

Dreadlocks, mohawks, green, yellow, purple and blue hair!
What’s going on!!??

T.I.S  have recently had a wacky hair day to fundraise for the S.P.C.A.. Children could come to school with the wackiest hair ever just for the price of a gold coin.

Children came to school with all manner of hairstyles including classic “hot-rod” mohawks (mohawks sticking about 10cm up and all slicked forward so the hair is curvy. They are usually dyed red for a flaming look.) Even some teachers played the good sport and sported a “do” to school. Back to the 50’s now. Everywhere in our school was mussed-up hair dyed wildly in a whirl of colours! Colour, colour everywhere! Some kids were wilder than others by adding the extra craziness, such as attaching pegs or lollipops to their hair. There was every style apart from the boring old normal.

We’re into the second half of our school year now and things are hotting up again!  We’re currently taking part in 3 global projects which you can read more about on our Collaboration page (see the page tabs above).  During Sept 07 – Dec 07 we’re taking part in Jen Wagner’s Technospud Online Project Salute to Seuss, Oct 07 sees us using our PhotoStory3 skills to produce a movie about Life ‘Round Here, organised by Chris Craft, and we’re currently learning how to podcast with a school in Victoria, Australia.  At the moment we’re using Voki to create a vocal introduction to the students in Australia.
Later on in Term 4 we are hoping to make some blogging connections with Mrs Durff and her class in the US.
